EXPLORE CAMP 2013
Explore Camp is back for another fantastic spring/summer! Explore is
a non-profit, student-run initiative that is designed to excite children
and youth about geography and provide employment for undergraduate students
within the Faculty of Arts and Science. The program began is Spring/Summer
2006 and we’re gearing up for another fantastic summer filled with all
new programming and exciting field trip adventures. Explore runs from
May to August and involves adapting the Ontario Canadian and World Studies
curriculum for children and youth in grades K-8 into a promotional spring
workshop program and an educational and interactive summer day camp program.
Explore’s mandate is
• To encourage a sense of curiosity and wonder about the natural and human-made
world
• To develop an interest in creating a sustainable environment for future
generations
• To foster an appreciation for the diversity of the Canadian environment
and culture
• To instill in youth a sense of pride, self-esteem, community and most
importantly, a sense of identity within the local, national and global
contexts
• To increase the breadth of understanding of geography amongst today’s
youth in a non-threatening and stimulating environment
• To provide Queen’s students with challenging and rewarding leadership
opportunities in their field of study
This summer promises to be an exciting one so get those camper applications
