RESEARCH

Climatology

The Climatology Laboratory is dedicated to the measurement and analysis of the energy, water, radiation, and carbon dioxide exchanges from natural surfaces with a particular emphasis on forests. Experimental work is supported by a range of equipment including net radiometers, Eppley pyanometers and pyrgeometers, LI-COR PAR sensors, various Campbell Scientific data loggers, two LI-COR plant canopy analyzers, two LI-COR porometers, a laser range finder, the AgVision leaf area analysis system with dedicated computer, several eddy covariance systems for latent heat, sensible heat, momentum and carbon dioxide fluxes incorporating Campbell three-dimensional sonics (CSAT3), LI-COR infrared gas analyzers (IRGA) and Matlab software, soil moisture TDR probes, soil heat flux sensors, and a temperature and IRGA laboratory calibration facility. The five pc's in the laboratory are networked via the university's high-speed ethernet link.
