Environmental Variability and Extremes Laboratory (EVEX)

The Environmental Variability and Extremes Laboratory (EVEX) houses a wet laboratory for sedimentology and sample processing, including an automated Coulter laser scattering particle size analyzer, high resolution magnetic system, a high capacity furnace, analytical scales, fume hoods and walk-in refrigeration. Numerous microscopes, digital cameras, scanners and a precision Velmex measuring stage support microscopy and image analysis. All instruments are linked to five networked computers. A dedicated thin section laboratory is available for sample preparation and an extensive collection of equipment is available for field research.
