The Department also manages a GIS teaching facility that is dedicated to upper year courses in GIS, remote sensing and spatial statistics. This facility contains 12 computer workstations and includes laser printers, scanners and a large format colour plotter. Software includes PCI Geomatica, ARCGIS, MapInfo, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Professional and others. The department also possesses Trimble and Garmin GPS equipment which are available for undergraduate and graduate teaching and research. The graduate computing room supports word processing, data analysis, internet access, email and document production. Peripherals in the graduate computing lab include a laser printer and a scanner. In addition, faculty support specialized computing resources for their own research programs, often with large well-equipped facilities. |
