Biography

I received my graduate training at the University of Toronto, receiving my M.A. in 1970 and Ph.D. in 1974. I have had teaching appointments at University of Cincinnati, Northwestern University, and the University of Victoria.  After a six year break from academia to participate in a CIDA development initiative based in the Ministry of Planning and Finance in Kenya, I returned to Canada and began teaching in the Geography Dept. and GISLAB at Queen’s in 1998-1999.

Teaching Interests

I enjoy teaching courses in the technical areas of Geography including statistical methods, introductory and advanced GIS, as well as qualitative techniques.  Courses for the upcoming year are described within the following websites:

Geography 243 Geographic Information Science (F)

Geography 247 Introduction to Quantitative Methods (F)

Geography 345 Spatial Analysis (W)

Geography 347 Explaining The Use of Multivarate and Spatial Statistics to
Geographers (W)
