Research Interests
My general research interests lay in recreational drug use, the geography
of crime, and the geography of law and power.
My PhD work attempts to better understand spatial patterns of urban drug
use and examine their relationship with both the social and built environment.
While contributing to the theoretical foundations of geography, sociology,
and criminology, my greater hope is that this work will draw attention
to problem of drug use in the inner-city and help to develop practical
policy solutions aimed at reducing the heavy burden of drugs, poverty,
and crime in disadvantaged Canadian neighbourhoods.
My previous Master’s work (Public Policy, University of Regina)
examined the quality and purity of recreational drugs available on the
Canadian black market and tested possible policy solutions aimed at reducing
the damage done to the consumers of those drugs.
