Research Interests

I am studying the implementation of the Native Studies Courses offered to all high schools across Ontario from 1999-2000 to the present. My Master’s Thesis will focus on Ministerial commitment to educate Ontarians regarding Aboriginal issues, Native Studies courses that are currently available, and about why they are being offered. Particular attention will be paid to regional geo-social factors.

Since 1991, I have been working on research regarding Aboriginal land claims as well as doing community consultation linked to finalizing negotiated agreements between Native organizations and the Federal and Provincial governments. I moved to Kingston in the fall of 2008 and am looking forward to working with the academic and artistic communities at Queen’s and in the area.

Supervisor: Dr. Anne Godlewska
