Description/Comments:   This is a lovely manuscript coloured map. Overall impression: pink urban development in the center surrounded by shades of light green-blue - these are the Mincio river (blue), marshes (blue/green), fields (green, pink, and yellow), canals, and other rivers.  This map includes a detailed key describing the fortifications and flood control points.  There is an extraordinary number of maps of Mantova in the army archives as it was a frequently besieged city.  We were able to identify 81 depictions of Mantova at a variety of scales (in both engraved and manuscript format but produced during the Directory or Napoleonic periods) in the section of maps and plans of the Service Historique de l'armée de terre.
