Department of Geography Program Notice

Geography 101 will be offered in different formats first and second term of the academic year 2010-2011.

In the fall of 2010 Gphy 101 will be a standard lecture course with as many as 425 students: Three lectures of 50 minutes per week, mid-term, final exam, assignments, and interaction with TAs. As a student you will be expected to attend three lectures a week. So, you will have 3 required lectures per week from the instructor.  The enrolment in this course is capped at 425. In the winter of 2011 the lectures will be available and required on-line and the actual class will be an interactive class of 60 students with the professor. As a student you will have to view three lectures of 50 minutes per week on your own time prior to your class and attend the one class you are scheduled to attend. In that class you will be actively engaged in group problem solving, discussion, and debate. You will be marked on what you do in preparation for the class and in class. There will be a mid-term and final exam. You will not have 4.5 contact hours per week, but 1.5 hours contact hours per week. The enrolment in this course is capped at 180.
